This is my first year as a research student. My thesis looks at the media coverage of the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict through examining the role Western media have in influencing public opinion as opposed to Arab media. The news media I intend to study is broadcast media and the news channels I will be looking at are BBC World, BBC Arabic, Al-Jazeera and Al-Jazeera English. I am also interested in these media outlets' editorial policies and guidelines as well as the discourse and visual they employ to reflect the events of the conflict.
